Tokyo Notes is a small, independent website about travelling in Tokyo. This page explains what happens to information when you visit it. It's short, because the site does very little with your data.
Who runs this site
Tokyo Notes is written and run by Satoru Amano, an individual based in Tokyo, Japan. It is not a company and has no staff. You can reach me at amanosatoru16@gmail.com.
Cookies
This site does not set cookies, and it does not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts.
Note that if you click a link to another company's website — for example a booking site or a SIM card provider — that company will apply its own cookies and privacy policy once you arrive. What happens there is outside my control.
Visitor statistics
The site runs on Cloudflare, which counts visits at the network level. That gives me a rough picture of how many people came, which pages they read, which country they came from and what kind of device they used. It doesn't identify individuals, and it doesn't place anything on your device.
If I add a more detailed analytics tool later — Google Analytics is the obvious candidate — I will say so on this page before it goes live, and I'll add a cookie notice if one becomes necessary.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, I may receive a small commission. It costs you nothing extra.
Two things I want to be clear about. First, I only link to services I would be willing to recommend to a friend visiting Tokyo. Second, a commission never buys a recommendation: if something isn't worth your money, the article says so.
Affiliate partners may set their own cookies once you land on their site.
If you email me, I'll have your address and whatever you wrote. I use it to reply to you and nothing else. I don't add people to mailing lists, and I don't pass addresses to anyone.
Your rights
Because this site doesn't collect personal information, there's usually nothing for me to show you or delete. If you've emailed me and you'd like that correspondence deleted, just ask and I'll delete it.
Changes to this page
If the way this site handles data changes, this page changes with it, and the date below changes too.
